Just thinking out-loud

Hey everyone..Went to NC on Thursday and returned back to Florida yesterday.. lots of time alone in my truck... the cravings were not easy.. they actually seemed stronger as I did my best smoking while driving.. I had all kinds of weapons to fight the evil craving empire.. a bag of baby carrots; cookies; water; jalapino chips.... the first 3 hours were fine.. but then when I hit SC it really hit me.. by that time I ate my carrots...(once you run out of ammo.. things get dicey) and then I started to get those thoughts"no one will know, I can stop and get a pack now.. have a few ciggies''' yea yea.. that's what I'll do... THEN... after I convinced myself that I was going to have a ciggy,,., The guilt set in... I never stopped to get a ciggy.. never had one puff... but wanna hear something funny.... I just couldn't bear to think that I would have to re-set my quit day to today.(the little banner at the bottem) . if I would have smoked and lost an entire week... I'm a man of honor..The ride back... same DARN thing.. this time I had my cell phone in my hand while I drove.. every now and then picked up my straw... That really helped.Never smoked during the trip.. I feel so good about myself being able to tell all of you.. One more thing that I found out... Friday morning I had my dress pants on, white shirt,smoking cessation, tie.. matching sweater.. and I felt so FILTHY.. My clothes stunk to high heaven.. I felt like a walking ashtray... arrgg...It was so strong.... anyway...Today - I'm taking my work clothes to the cleaners... Have any of you ever seen the vampire Lestat movie.. the Ann Rice novels.. anyway.. when he becomes a vampire his sense of smell is incredible.. that's how I feel..I can smell everything a mile away it seems and let me tell you that Steak Wifey cooked for me last night was SOME KINDA GOOD! hmm yummy...So - Happy Saturday... please pray to the rain gods not to RAIN in northern Florida so I can ride my motorcycle.. Wind in my face, the roar of the engine, I think of how great I feel that I have not smoked in a week...Stay Strong Everyone.. I'm a retired US Marine.. so this is the approach we can take against the Evil Nicotine Empire.. "Once we begin the sequence of combat,stop smoking, there is no turning back, and it will only end in your demise" HAHAHA......not one puff!
